Jason Choate was born and raised in middle Tennessee. He began fishing at a young age with his grandfather for sunfish and catfish on Old Hickory. After not wetting a line for nearly 25 years, fishing was brought back into his life.
Looking for a means to get on the water, he rented some kayaks and canoes before making his first purchase. His first boat was the Wilderness Systems Ride 115X which he bought used from a Hook1 fishing team member in 2015. Realizing there was a large community of kayak anglers hunting bass, he began learning to fish for bass. In an effort to meet fellow kayak anglers he began entering some tournaments with KBFTN. It didn't take long for this old hobby to become a new passion. Over 2016, Jason spent as much time as possible on the water, reading books, watching videos and picking the minds of anyone who would listen. 2017 has been his second full year chasing bass in tournaments with KBFTN, CTKA, CAKFG and KBF with 5 top ten finishes.
Now fishing out of a Bonafide SS127, Jason takes every opportunity to hit the water. He has been very active with the Heroes On the Water (HOW) Music City chapter volunteering at events and will be serving as an Event Coordinator in 2018. Many of the same reasons that HOW exists is what led him to kayak fishing. For that reason, introducing others to kayak fishing is something he is very passionate about in life.
