John McClenney started fishing at a young age with his grandfather on small creeks and ponds in Flat Creek, TN. As he grew older the fishing passion grew and ended up with a bass boat which lead to tournament fishing. Several years ago his life took a change. He sold his boat and quit fishing for a short time. When he decided to get back into fishing, he decided to try kayak fishing and has been hooked every since. He currently fishes from an ATAK 140.
McClenney started fishing kayak bass tournaments in Tennessee. with the Tennessee Kayak Anglers, Kayak Bass Fishing Tennessee, Chattanooga Bass Yakkers and the Smokey Mountain Kayak Anglers. John fished more than twenty tournaments all over Tennessee his first year of kayak tournament fishing and finishing fourth in the state.
McClenney and a couple of his friends started Southern Mid-Tn. Kayak Anglers which runs a bass tournament schedule and other events in Southern Middle Tennessee.
McClenney and several kayak fishing club directors from across Tennessee founded ”KAST” Kayak Anglers Society of Tennessee. which leads and sets rules for the kayak fishing clubs across Tennessee to follow and work for toward the Tennessee. State Championship. He has started or helped out with many kayak charity events that help fellow anglers and the community.
McClenney graduated from Shelbyville Central High School in 1984 and lives in Shelbyville, Tennessee.
He has shared his passion of kayak fishing with a lot of people and now they have become hooked as well.
