Kayak Fishing in Minnesota
Customer name: Todd Beck
City/State: Prior Lake, MN
Where do you fish/launch? Prior Lake, Pearson Lake, Spring Lake, Minnesota River, Mississippi River, and "Up North" in many lakes near Remer, Minnesota.
What kind of fish do you catch or target? Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye, and Panfish
What kind of lures, jigs or live bait do you use? Shad Raps, Wacky Worms, Jigs and Leeches and many different types of spoons. I troll most of the time.
What kind of kayak do you have? I have an Ocean Kayak Prowler 15, an Islander Caster 12.5, and an Ocean Kayak Frenzy 8.
Rigging Tips? I started doing much better when I mounted a GPS and could find the drop offs and rock piles. Beyond that, I try to keep it simple, less tuff to lose over the side. Oh, floating pliers are the way to go.
Comments: I grew up in MN, ended up in CA for a while and that is where I first heard of kayak fishing off of Ventura and Santa Barbara. I get a few looks here, not real common in MN.
