April 21st, River Bottom Park, 390 South Main Street, Shelbyville, Tennessee
Bring a kayak, paddle and life jacket or borrow one of ours!
Spend a few hours on the beautiful Duck River and get ready for a safe summer on the water. Learn about hidden water hazards and paddling skills to avoid the hazards. This class is designed for parents and kids who live in Shelbyville near the Duck River to offer an opportunity for families to learn about water safety together.
Hook1 is offering this class as a community service to the local residents on the Duck River in response to the tragedies and near misses that occurred in 2017. The class will be led by instructors certified by the American Canoe Association who have all volunteered to spend the day offering their services for the benefit of the community. Participants will be required to wear life jackets/PFDs on the water.
*Children must be accompanied by a parent, must be able to paddle their own boat and must be able to swim independently.
